The massive gas explosion in Kaohsiung caused serious causalities and shocked the whole country.  Chairman Walter H. C. Chang, based on the notion of “fulfilling the social responsibility of an enterprise”, initiated a fundraising activity within Sanyang Motor and its affiliates.  Ultimately, an amount of NT$10 million was raised, including 1 million from Chairman Chang, 500 thousand from Vice Chairman C. Y. Wu, and donated to Kaohsiung City for its reconstruction project.

In the meantime, Sanyang is providing favorable packages to people in the affected areas for motorcycle replacement and maintenance, while Nanyang is mobilizing its Kaohsiung service network and taking emergency measures to provide immediate services and special discounts for affected Hyundai owners.
